Power tools for African importers, built around unreliable power

Africa is not one market and does not buy one range. What the continent has in common is that the grid is not dependable, fuel is expensive, and a tool that stops working has no repair shop within reach. That changes what you should stock.

What that means for the range you open with

Three buying drivers, in the order they change a specification.

Unstable power favours cordless and rechargeable

Where the grid browns out or cuts for hours, a corded tool is only as good as the socket. Cordless and rechargeable models are the mainstream choice, not the premium one — and the battery platform you pick decides your repeat sales, because every tool you add shares it.

Fuel cost pushes work onto electric equipment

Off-grid water pumping, feed preparation and poultry work are usually done with petrol or diesel engines today. Electric and solar-driven alternatives are bought when the payback is explained in fuel saved, not in technical specification.

Buyers want a working method, not a machine

The enquiries worth answering are the ones that describe the job: how many animals, how many hectares, how much water per day, what the customer already owns. A single tool quoted against a job is a shorter conversation than a catalogue quoted against a price.

Where to start, by country

Each country page covers the electrical standard, the clearance scheme, the categories we would open with and what we need from you to quote.

Nigeria

230 V, Type D and G. The largest single hardware and building-material channel in West Africa, with a large northern livestock economy alongside it.

Kenya

240 V, Type G. A strong agricultural and horticultural base, with Mombasa serving Uganda, Rwanda and South Sudan as well.

Egypt

220 V, Type C and F. The largest domestic market in North Africa and, for many buyers, the gateway to Libya and Sudan.

Sourcing, clearance and payment — the boring part that decides the order

Certification is started by the importer

Most African markets run a conformity scheme at the border — SONCAP in Nigeria, PVoC through KEBS in Kenya, GOEIC registration in Egypt. The application is made by the importer or their clearing agent, in the destination country. What we provide is the technical file that goes into it: test reports, rating plate data, model and voltage declaration, and production photographs.

If you are new to a scheme, tell us at the enquiry stage. It changes the timeline, not the price, and it is much cheaper to plan for than to discover at the port.

Trade terms and payment

We ship FOB Shenzhen, Ningbo or Yiwu. You nominate and pay the forwarder, so you see the real freight cost and the bill of lading is in your name. If you want CIF or delivered pricing we will introduce you to forwarders we work with, who will contract with you directly.

Payment is T/T — a deposit against the confirmed order, balance before shipment — confirmed in writing on every order. We do not publish prices, because a tool price is only meaningful next to a quantity, a configuration and a port.

One thing worth knowing before you ask. We are a trading and export company, not a factory. We buy from vetted Chinese manufacturers and export under our own brand and yours. We say so because it is the first thing a serious importer asks, and because it is what makes the inspection, the private label and the consolidation genuinely ours to answer for.

What we need from you to quote

  • The models or categories, and a target quantity
  • The destination country and port
  • Voltage and plug type your market uses
  • Whether you want retail packaging, and for which channel
  • Your brand name and logo file, if this is a private-label order
  • Whether a conformity certificate applies, and who is applying
  • Anything you have already bought, so we do not quote the same tool twice
  • Your delivery window, if a season depends on it

That is enough for a firm quotation. How the quotation is built is on how to order, and the inspection behind it is on quality control.
